Microbial organisms play an important role in microalgae biomass health and production. Metabarcoding analyses illustrate high turnover rates so that many metabolic pathways could be executed by various microbial taxa. Nevertheless, the functional integrity of the system remains unknown. In this study, we monitored the functional dynamics of two microalgae production raceways, during two 9-month intervals in 2021 (TS1) and 2022 (TS2), one fed with wastewater and the other with clean water plus fertilizers. By metagenomic analyses we aim to gain insights into the metabolic capabilities of the microbial community, to recognize which functions are preserved for industrial-scale microalgae cultivation and executed by various microbial taxa. Understanding the dynamics of microbial taxa and their functional activity is crucial for optimizing cultivation strategies and enhancing the efficiency of microalgae-based industrial processes. The present study provides important and powerful resources for generating insights into the structure and function of microbial communities developed in microalgal cultures
