El nemátodo del pino: enemigo silencioso causante de graves pérdidas económicas y ambientales a nivel mundial

Abstract

El control del nemátodo del pino ha pasado de depender de insecticidas y nematicidas a enfoques más sostenibles, como trampas de feromonas para capturar el vector, programas de mejora genética para desarrollar pinos más resistentes y estrategias biológicas basadas en microorganismos beneficiosos, como micorrizas. Estas alternativas han demostrado fortalecer las defensas naturales de los árboles y reducir el impacto de la infección. Investigaciones recientes han explorado nuevas soluciones, incluyendo tanto el uso de elicitadores como bacterias endófitas que activan los mecanismos de defensa del pino y aumentan la resistencia a patógenos. No obstante, el principal desafío sigue siendo la aplicación de estas estrategias a gran escala y su viabilidad a largo plazo. La propagación del nemátodo del pino resalta la necesidad de mantener una vigilancia constante sobre la sanidad forestal, especialmente ante la creciente amenaza de especies invasoras favorecida por el cambio global. La protección de los bosques requiere un enfoque integrado que combine investigación científica, estrategias de control efectivas y el respaldo de políticas ambientales que garanticen la sostenibilidad de los ecosistemas forestales.
