The objective of this work was to study the genetic variability of Calicophoron daubneyi natural populations in cattle from Galicia and Castile and León by means of the analysis of parasite mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequences. The species was molecularly identified by sequencing the ITS-2 (Internal Transcribed Spacer 2) intergene zone, using two primers designed from the C. daubneyi sequence published in GenBankTM (Access No AY790883).
