Cross section for forward j/ψ production in pp collisions at √s=1.8 tev

Abstract

This work was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation; the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare; the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Japan; the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; the National Science Council of the Republic of China; the Swiss National Science Foundation; the A.P. Sloan Foundation; the Bundesministerium fuer Bildung und Forschung, Germany; the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation KoSEF; the Korea Research Foundation; and the Comision Interministerial de Ciencia y Tecnologia, Spain

The inclusive cross section for 𝐽/𝜓 production times the branching ratio 𝐵⁢(𝐽/→𝜓⁢𝜇+⁢𝜇−) has been measured in the forward pseudorapidity region: 𝐵 ×𝑑⁢𝜎⁡[¯𝑝 +→𝑝⁢𝐽/𝜓⁢(𝑝𝑇 >10⁢GeV/𝑐,2.1 <|𝜂| <2.6) +𝑋]/d⁢𝜂 =192 ±9⁢(stat) ±2⁢9⁢(syst)⁢pb. The results are based on 74.1 ±5.2⁢pb−1 of data collected by the CDF Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The measurements extend earlier measurements of the D0 Collaboration to higher 𝑝𝐽/𝜓𝑇. In the kinematic range where the experiments partially overlap, these data are in good agreement with previous measurements.
