We study the roughness properties of an interface that is driven through a random medium. The growth is modeled by a continuous stochastic equation with quenched noise. A new intermediate scaling regime is introduced and analyzed. Effective self-affine properties in this regime allow us to define an effective roughness exponent α𝑒𝑓𝑓≃0.8 in excellent agreement with previous experiments.
