Abstract

La Cuenca Central de Bransfield (CBB) se localiza en el extremo norte de la Península Antártica, y constituye una cuenca estrecha de dirección SW-NE limitada hacia el norte por las Islas Shetland y al sur por la Península Antártica. El presente estudio persigue la caracterización morfológica del margen continental de la Península Antártica (margen meridional) de la cuenca y la reconstrucción de sus ambientes sedimentarios durante el último periodo glacial. Este trabajo está basado en el análisis de perfiles sísmicos de muy alta resolución obtenidos con sonda paramétrica TOPAS durante la campaña MAGIA 99 a bordo del B.I.O. Hespérides, y de las batimetías multihaz obtenidas en la campaña GEBRAP 93 a bordo del mismo buque y los datos batimétricos recopilados por el Marine Geosciences Data Management System financiado por la National Science Foundation de Estados Unidos (http://www.marine-geo.org).
