[ES] La orogenia Varisca tuvo lugar durante el Paleozoico Superior a consecuencia de la colisión entre Gondwana y Laurrusia. Actualmente, la zona más interna del Orógeno Varisco aparece preservada en varios complejos alóctonos del Macizo Ibérico. Al NO de este macizo, el Complejo de Cabo Ortegal contiene a techo el llamado Alóctono Superior, cuya sección inferior experimentó metamorfismo de alta-P y alta-T durante el Devónico Inferior. El Alóctono Superior está constituido por rocas ultramáficas, granulitas de alta presión, una lámina de eclogitas y paragneises migmatíticos. La lámina de eclogitas tiene un espesor de hasta 700 m y más de 20 km de longitud, y en ella se han diferenciado tres tipos de eclogitas: eclogitas ricas en Mg-Al, eclogitas ferrotitaníferas y eclogitas comunes (Mendia et al., 2001). El estudio petrológico en base a la modelización termodinámica de los tres tipos de eclogitas revela condiciones PT de ~750-800 ºC y 23-25 kbar para el pico metamórfico, indicando la subducción profunda de la periferia de Gondwana al inicio de la Orogenia Varisca durante el Devónico Inferior.
[EN] The Variscan Orogeny took place during Late Paleozoic as a consequence of the collision between Gondwana and Laurussia. Currently, the most internal zone of the Variscan Orogen is preserved in several allochthonous complexes from the Iberian Massif. The Cabo Ortegal Complex (NW Iberia) contains the so-called Upper Allochthon, whose lower section underwent high-P and high-T metamorphism during Lower Devonian. The Upper Allochthon is constituted by ultramafic rocks, high-P granulites, an eclogitic layer and migmatitic paragneisses. In the eclogitic layer, which is up to 700 m thick and 20 km long, three types of eclogites have been identified: Mg-Al-rich eclogites, Fe-Ti-rich eclogites and common eclogites (Mendia et al., 2001). Thermodynamic modelling of the three types of eclogites reveals metamorphic peak conditions of ~750-800 ºC and 23-25 kbar, indicating deep subduction of the peri-Gondwana realm at the onset of the Variscan Orogeny during Early Devonian.
