Heterogeneous Iridium(III) conjugated porous polymer photoredox catalyst based on BODIPY

Abstract

Herein, the design, synthesis and characterization of Iridium (III) complex integrated into the backbone of a nanostructure conjugated microporous polymer based on BODIPY, named as IEP-41 (IMDEA Energy Polymer), is reported. The insertion of the Iridium complex followed the deprotection strategy of BODIPY moiety, achieving (dipyrrin)(bipyridine)Ir(III) heterogeneous complex. IEP-41 is an efficient and selective photocatalyst for iminium ion generation under visible light. Moreover, IEP-41 shows a broad scope with different nucleophiles (nitroalkanes, nitriles, and dimethylmalonate) but does not show reaction in the presence of ketonic substrates. IEP-41 shows high thermal and photochemical stability under irradiation, and it could be reused until six times without efficiency and selectivity losses. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.
