Polvo sahariano durante el Holoceno en los Pirineos occidentales y centrales: los registros de la turbera de Arxuri y el ibón de Marboré

Abstract

Investigamos la entrada de polvo sahariano en los Pirineos occidentales y centrales durante el Holoceno con análisis multiproxy de sondeos de sedimentos de la turbera de Arxuri (497 m s.n.m., Pirineos occidentales) y el ibón de Marboré (2.612 m s.n.m., Pirineos centrales) y con la caracterización geoquímica del polvo actual y los aportes de las cuencas sedimentarias. Las secuencias de Arxuri y Marboré son coherentes con los registros regionales con una menor deposición de polvo durante el Holoceno temprano seguida de un aumento durante el Holoceno medio y tardío tras el final del Periodo Húmedo Africano (ca. 7 - 4,5 ka BP). En Arxuri, los principales periodos con mayor aporte de polvo sahariano ocurrieron entre 10,0 - 8,8 y entre 4,6 - 3,6 ka BP. En Marboré, se han identificado hasta 7 ciclos de escala milenaria, con una tendencia general al aumento durante el Holoceno. Durante los últimos 2.000 años, en ambos registros, las transiciones entre fases climáticas (periodo Romano, Anomalía Climática Medieval, Pequeña Edad del Hielo) fueron los periodos con mayor aporte de polvo.
