Entre los años 1912 y 1956 muchos diplomáticos y militares españoles publicaron artículos y manuales informando sobre su trabajo en territorio marroquí, las costumbres, la religión y la cultura árabes en Marruecos. Esta documentación muestra el interés de la administración española por su organización y control social, especialmente en lo referente a la justicia musulmana, cuyo correcto funcionamiento aseguraba gran parte de su éxito como fuerza colonial. El presente artículo analiza la abundante documentación publicada durante el Protectorado español sobre las instituciones judiciales marroquíes, y en concreto sobre el procedimiento judicial musulmán, su desarrollo, sus actores, y la burocracia desarrollada en torno a ella.
