Abstract

Este artículo analiza el papel que jugaron las empresas corsarias en el mar Caribe en el siglo XVIII. A través del proceder de estas empresas podemos apreciar la articulación del comercio regional caribeño en un escenario de luchas y conflictos imperiales por el control del comercio americano. Especialmente, analizamos las actuaciones corsarias españolas tras la pérdida del monopolio mercantil en el Caribe luego del tratado de Utrecht.
