Abstract

[EN] This article contains the second part of a larger work on the mineral collections of the IGME Museum which, due to its extension, was divided into two parts. It begins in the fourth of the five periods in which this history of the collections has been divided, in 1989, coinciding with the inauguration of the Museo Geominero. In the 1980s, the foundations were laid for the modernization of the museum, which would be gradually implemented. In the 90s, the formation of working groups began, which have operated in the museum for almost three decades. Several updates to the collections were made, highlighting the Spanish mineral collection since 2008. The fifth period begins in 2021, with the integration of the IGME into the CSIC and the restructuring of the Institute. The staff assigned to mineral collections has been significantly reduced. There is some uncertainty about the future since there has been a new stagnation in the mineralogical collections, paralyzing the research work on the funds and their updating.
