Avances en la caracterización geomorfológica de la Provincia Volcánica de las Islas Canarias y su relación con los hábitats bentónicos

Abstract

Los montes submarinos de la Provincia Volcánica de las Islas Canarias se han estudiado mediante métodos acústicos de alta resolución, la adquisición de muestras sedimentarias y la observación directa con equipos controlados de forma remota. Este estudio muestra el predominio de los procesos de origen volcánico y de transporte de masas en los montes de las zonas suroeste y noreste. También se pone de manifiesto la interrelación con la dinámica de las aguas intermedias y profundas.

Este trabajo está financiado por el proyecto BIODIV “Asesoramiento científico-técnico para el seguimiento de la biodiversidad marina: espacios y especies marinos protegidos de competencia estatal (2022-2025) PRTR-Next Generation EUMITERD).

Comunicación presentada a las 3as Jornadas Luso Españolas de Hidrografía, celebradas en Cádiz entre los días 9 y 11 de octubre de 2024.
