[EN] The aspects of nitrogen nutrition of wheat analysed in this paper are the nitrogen requirements of the plant, the nutrient availability in the medium and fertilizer application. The nitrogen requiremenu of the plant are estimated by the seasonal variation of dry matter and nitrogen and their distribution within the plant, the nutrient status in thr various developmental stages, and the dynamics of the nutrient within the plant. The relationship bctwcen nitrogen nutrition and photosynthesis and the nutrient uptake by the crop are also studied. The chemical forms and contents of nitrogen in the soil, the prohlem of mineralization of organic nitrogen and the balance hetween gains and losses, are important aspects of the nutrient availability, which affect nutrient uptake. From these concepts, some basic points are deduced for the rationa: use of nitrogen fertilizer, both in amount and time of application, which should he aided by field experimentation and crop analysis.
