Abstract

[ES] En primer lugar se resume la evolución de la automatización del proceso catalográfico en las bibliotecas desde sus inicios hasta nuestros días. El capítulo siguiente consiste en una aproximación al concepto, características y utilización del catálogo público de acceso en línea, a partir de un trabajo de síntesis bibliográfica. A continuación se describe el sistema de automatización DOBIS-LIBIS, con especial énfasis en los aspectos de catalogación y consulta, así como su implantación en España. Finalmente se ofrece un estudio del sistema mencionado a partir de una encuesta realizada en una muestra de usuarios de la biblioteca de la Facultad de Geografía e Historia de la Universidad de Salamanca.

[EN] First, the paper summarizes the evolution of the automated cataloging in libraries since its inception until today. The next chapter is an approach to the concept, characteristics and use of public access catalog online, from a synthesis of literature. Then the automation system DOBIS-LIBIS is described, with special emphasis on the cataloging and use, and its implementation in Spain. Finally, the author makes a study of the mentioned system, from a survey of a sample of users of the library of the Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Salamanca.
