Abstract

[ENG] The mineralogical composition of twenty-three clay samples from nine deposits of the province of Zamora has been studied. The deposits are located in tertiary's and quaternary's regions on the r i ~ h t side of the Duero basin. The techniques used were mainly: cation-exchange capacity, chemical analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction. The conclusion arrived at is that the samples are composed, mainly, by illite (55-85 %); kaolinite (10-20 %) and montmorillonite (5-35 %). The clays from samples XVII-l and XVII-2, contain vermiculite, and the clays from samples X11-2 and XIII-2, contain attapulgite as well.
