Abstract

Los neumáticos son un elemento fundamental en la vida cotidiana. Sin embargo, después de llegar al final de su vida útil, estos tienen una enorme complejidad para ser reciclados, por lo que una de las estrategias para ser reusados consiste en su trituración, molienda y separación de los demás componentes textiles y metálicos para obtener polvo de neumático. El polvo de neumático obtenido mediante este proceso ha sido utilizado en la producción de diversos productos útiles para la sociedad y sectores industriales como el de la construcción y automotriz. Una de las aplicaciones más atractivas consiste en su uso como ingrediente para la formulación de bandas de rodadura para la fabricación de neumáticos sólidos o agrícolas, neumáticos para nieve con o sin clavos y neumáticos para automóviles y turismos. Con su uso como ingrediente de formulación se pretende disminuir los costos de fabricación, incrementar algunas propiedades finales y la durabilidad de los productos que se obtienen y con ello convertirlo en un material de valor añadido y cerrar el ciclo sostenible de los neumáticos al final de su vida útil.

Tires are a fundamental element in daily life. However, after reaching their life span, they have an enormous complexity to be recycled, so one of the strategies to be reused consists of shredding, grinding, and separating the other textile and metal components to obtain tire powder. Tire powder obtained by this method has been used in the production of various valuable products for society and industrial sectors such as the construction and automotive industries. One of the most attractive applications is its use as an ingredient in the formulation of treads for the manufacture of solid or agricultural tires, studded or studless snow tires, and tires for automobiles and passenger cars. Its use as a formulation ingredient is intended to reduce manufacturing costs and increase some final properties and the durability of the products obtained, thereby converting it into a value-added material and closing the sustainable cycle of tires at the end of their useful life.
