Abstract

This article addresses the latest developments and advanced biomedical applications of polymeric hydrogels. Hydrogels, which are solid viscoelastic materials composed of interconnected networks and solvents, are essential in biomedical applications due to their biocompatibility and responsiveness to stimuli. The article examines stimuli-sensitive hydrogels such as those responsive to temperature, pH, light, and analytes, and their application in fields such as glucose sensing and drug delivery. It also highlights shape-memory hydrogels, which can regain their original shape after temporary deformations, and explores their application in tissue engineering and medical devices. Finally, self-healing hydrogels are discussed, which emulate the biological ability for self-healing and have potential in wound healing and tissue regeneration. In summary, polymeric hydrogels are revolutionizing the fields of material science and medicine, with promising applications to enhance quality of life and well-being
