Aquí se relata la conversación intelectual que Kant mantuvo con Diderot en el ámbito de las ideas, comprobándose una gran coincidencia entre los planteamientos de ambos en relación con un ateísmo ético, es decir, con esa emancipación que la ética debe tener con respecto a cualquier instancia o código externo, aunque uno lo hiciera sinfónicamente con su sistema crítico y el otro tan rapsódica como fragmentariamente. Se acentúa por otro lado que ambos manifestaron su compromiso e intervencionismo político al final de sus respectivas trayectorias.
