The rising concern to reduce the environ- mental impact from plastic packaging has led to an increase interest in the develop- ment of new biodegradable materials. For the last decades, renewable polymers have been proposed as an alternative to fossil based packaging. Starch has an amazing potential, especially in its thermoplastic form. Starch is an abundant and renewable source with bio- degradable properties, low cost and versatil- ity.
