La precisa ubicación geográfica de la batalla que dio inicio a la conquista musulmana del Reino visigodo ha sido una de las cuestiones más debatidas por la historiografía española. Estudios anteriores casi siempre optaron por un enfoque filológico. En este trabajo, sin dejar de lado cuestiones filológicas, hemos primado los testimonios geográficos, estratégicos y logísticos de fuentes primarias, confrontados con información actual sobre los ejércitos enfrentados y las vías de comunicación de la época. Presentamos aquí parcialmente nuestra hipótesis, que nos permite proponer que la batalla tuvo entre la Laguna de la Janda y el cerro de Torrejosa.
