El “dato o canelón del Chicamocha”, una especie colombiana de Browningia (Cactaceae), recientemente descrita

Abstract

Se comenta el hallazgo en Colombia de la nueva especie Browningia hernandezii (Cactaceae), que es endémica de la cuenca alta del río Chicamocha, Boyacá, Cordillera Oriental. Esta llamativa especie de porte arbustivo o arborescente, confirma la distribución disyunta de Browningia que hasta ahora era considerado endémico de la región centroandina. Se explica a grandes rasgos su hábitat, distribución y su condición de especie promisoria para el país.
