La filosofía española que José Gaos transterró a México

Abstract

La idea de «transtierro» admite aplicarse también al pensamiento filosófico que José Gaos llevó consigo a México. Gaos contaba ya con una filosofía original suya propia cuando salió de España en 1938. Era una peculiar defensa y asimilación del raciovitalismo de Ortega. En su caso, la idea de la vida humana como realidad radical conectaba además con una denuncia de la metafísica, con una «prosopopeya del filósofo», tal como él dirá en la última lección de filosofía impartida en la facultad de Ortega. También de estos años de la guerra civil data su reivindicación de que había existido un genuino pensamiento moderno en lengua española. Tiene un notable interés vincular estos esbozos claros de su filosofía madura con su formalización temprana, ya en 1945, de que en la realidad hispanoamericana prevalecía un pensamiento filosófico de expresión literaria y con firme proyección política. Se concluye apuntando algunas posibles dudas acerca del equilibrio interno de estos distintos elementos.
