Estudia la creación del estanco y real fábrica de aguardiente de caña en Guayaquil por parte del visitador José García de León y Pizarro, y la positiva evolución de la renta pese a la inicial resistencia de los guayaquileños, habituados al consumo del aguardiente de uva traído del Perú.
