Abstract

A pesar de la vasta bibliografia sobre el tema, la industria azucarera cubana sigue suscitando nuevas investigaciones. La razón estriba en la importancia que desde finales del siglo XVIII tuvo el azúcar en la historia de Cuba. Este trabajo es parte de un estudio más amplio sobre el sector en la últimas décadas del siglo XIX, del que ahora avanzamos un estado de la cuestión, una crítica de las fuentes empleadas y una estadística descriptiva.
