Se da a conocer una carta jocosa inédita de Francisco de Aldana que da cuenta de su desconocida estancia en Inglaterra, en la corte de Isabel I, cuando acudió allí acompañando a Chapín Vitelli en calidad de embajador de Felipe II, en el año 1569. Además de suponer un importante jalón en este tipo de subgénero humorístico, la carta tiene importantes conexiones intertextuales con otras obras literarias (como /El celoso/, de Velázquez de Velasco, que la copia descaradamente) y sirve para establecer el vínculo que tenía el poeta con don Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo, hijo del duque de Alba, destinatario último de la carta de Aldana.
