Obrajes y obrajeros del Quito colonial

Aunque estamos muy lejos de poder valorar el peso específico de las manufacturas textiles en la economía colonial ecuatoriana, podemos apuntar que, en contraste con otras áreas americanas, aquéllas supusieron un pilar fundamental de su economía interna y para su comercio exterior. No es así exagerado afirmar que la evolución del obraje corre paralela y determinando la historia económica y social de la sierra e incluso de toda la Audiencia.
