In the period 1976 to 1985, the sardine stock of this region has undergone oscillations in abundance, mainly due to variations in recruitment. A hypothesis of migration is proposed, based on the similarity in age class distribution revealed both by the captures and by acoustics. Both techniques show a similar pattern of differential age class distribution.
