Actualización de parámetros poblacionales de Sardina pilchardus procedente de aguas mauritanas

Abstract

En el año 2003, en el marco del Proyecto Europeo Data Collection (Reglamento (EC) 1543/2000), el Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO), a través de su Centro Oceanográfico de Canarias (COC), inició el seguimiento de la Flota Industrial Europea de arrastre pelágico, cuya actividad está orientada a los peces pequeños pelágicos en aguas de Mauritania. Las principales especies a las que está dirigida esta pesquería son la sardina (Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792)), la alacha (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847), el machuelo (Sardinella maderensis (Lowe, 1838)), los jureles (Trachurus spp.) y la caballa (Scomber colias Gmelin, 1789). Este segmento de flota fue seleccionado para su seguimiento dado que parte de los buques que componen este Métier descargan en puerto español (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias), y por el gran volumen de capturas (30% del total del área). En 2010 el COC-IEO decidió llevar a cabo una actualización de parámetros poblacionales de Sardina pilchardus procedente de aguas de Mauritania, mediante el análisis de 4.687 ejemplares (15,6 - 29,5 cm). Se han determinado las distribuciones de tallas, relaciones talla-peso, sex-ratio, época de puesta, ojivas de madurez, claves talla-edad, talla/s y edad/es de primera madurez y parámetros de crecimiento.
