Omnia vanitas: Festejos en honor de Godoy

Abstract

La instauración en 1807 del Almirantazgo por Manuel Godoy tuvo una serie de implicaciones directas en Cuba. En La Habana los beneficiados por las medidas de Príncipe de la Paz celebraron de manera espléndida la creación de la nueva institución. Para la organización y ornamentación de la fiesta se contó con la colaboración del pintor italiano José Perovani, que desarrollo su labor artística en la isla en los primeros años de la centuria decimonónica de una manera especialmente significativa.
