Efecte miratge del canvi global en la població de llagosta vermella a les Illes Balears.

Abstract

Conèixer l'efecte del canvi global sobre les poblacions marines resulta sempre complex. La incertesa dels seus efectes es fa més patent si aquests són objecte actiu de la pesca. La llagosta vermella (Palinurus elephas) és una espècie d'elevat interès comercial a les Illes Balears i font principal d'ingressos per a la pesca artesanal. Recentment s'ha detectat un augment de les captures per part de la flota artesanal, atribuït a la bona gestió de l'estoc. Aquest treball analitza diferents aspectes que incideixen sobre la captura de la llagosta vermella i s'ha observat que s'està produint una alteració en la dinàmica anual de l'espècie, possiblement induïda per la inestabilitat de les condicions de l'oceà. Additivament, s'ha produït un canvi en el sistema de pesca tradicional i una reducció de l'esforç pesquer, i possiblement s’ha calat en noves pesqueres, a causa de la creació d'un LIC. El principal objectiu d'aquest treball és alertar a la flota i als gestors que l'augment de captures ha de ser avaluat amb cautela, si volem que la pesca de llagosta vermella sigui sostenible en un futur

Knowing the effect of global change on marine populations is a complex issue. The uncertainty of the effects becomes more evident if they are a target species of commercial fleet. The European spiny lobster (Palinurus elephas) is a species with a great commercial value and it reports most of the benefits for the artisanal fleet in the Balearic Islands. Recently an increase of captures has been detected and most of the stakeholders attributed that to a well performed management measures. This work analyzes different aspects that affect the capture of the spiny lobster and we detected a change in the annual dynamics of the species, possibly induced by the unstable conditions of the ocean. In addition, changes in the traditional fishing procedures and a reduction of the effort have been observed, and probably new fishing grounds have been fished again, due to the creation of a LIC. The main objective of this work is to warn to the managers and fishermen that the increase in catches should be evaluated with caution if we want to make a sustainable fishery in the future
