[ES] En este artículo nos proponemos recuperar algunos aspectos del proceso de profesionalización de la Asistencia social en Argentina, en la década de los ’30 del s. XX. Centramos la atención en los discursos de un sector de profesionales -médicos higienistas- que generaron acciones tendientes a dotar a la Asistencia social de un carácter científico, e impulsaron la intervención estatal sobre la cuestión social.
[EN] The purpose of this article is to revisit some aspects of the process of professionalization of Social Work in Argentina during the 1930s. We focus our attention on the discourses of a group of professionals -hygienist doctors- who took measures aimed at endowing Social Work with a scientific status and promoted state intervention as regards the social question.
