Abstract: Data on boarfish (adults and eggs/larvae), as found in the south of the Iberian Península, are provided while the likehood of the major quantities of eggs and larvae being conveyed from the continental shelf of the Gulf of Cadiz to the Alboran Sea is considered. Adults of this species, wich are of no commercial interest, occasionally appear in large quantities in this area, in which occurs a phenomenic exclusion of other pelagic fish species, thereby causing significant financial losses to the fishing flett.
