Aves, diosas y mujeres

Abstract

[EN]This paper studies the sculpture of the "Dama de Baza" and its association with a small pigeon. Women and birds are a very usual couple on Mediterranean iconography, and this association presents several meanings. The authors propose to understand the sculpture as a protective image for the dead women buried inside it. The burial is considered as a funerary household related with the Iberian aristocracy.
