Obtención de un stock de reproductores de merluza europea, Merluccius merluccius L.: Captura, transporte y estabulación

Abstract

Mil veintiséis ejemplares de merluza europea Merluccius merluccius (Linnaeus, 1758) fueron capturados durante una campaña de 7 días, realizada en el mes de junio de 2008 en la ría de Vigo. Las pescas se realizaron en zonas de 25 a 35 metros de profundidad, utilizando un arte de arrastre provisto de un copo de lona, que mantenía en su interior el agua y permitía preservar a las merluzas capturadas vivas. El 56,9% de los peces sobrevivieron a la captura y los que mostraron dilatación abdominal fueron pinchados para extraerles el gas acumulado en la vejiga natatoria. Durante el mantenimiento a bordo y su posterior traslado al Centro Oceanográfico de Vigo se mantuvieron en tanques isotermos a 14-16 ºC, en penumbra y oxígeno a saturación, con una supervivencia del 88,9%. Al llegar al laboratorio fueron estabulados en tanques de 8 m3 en circuito abierto a 13 ºC y en completa oscuridad. Al cabo de 4 días en cautividad (fase crítica de mortalidad), sobrevivieron 210 ejemplares (40,5% de los estabulados). Los positivos resultados obtenidos durante los procesos de captura y aclimatación constituyen un punto de partida importante para abordar el cultivo comercial de esta especie.
