Como parte de los trabajos que actualmente se adelantan en la tribu Quararibeae (Boinbacaceae) en el norte de Sudamérica, se describen 5 especies nuevas y una subespecie del género Matisia Huinb. & Bonpl. (M. alata Little subsp. corruguta, M. carderi, M. hir.szrtissima, M. lozanoi, M. serpicostata y M. spathacea) y dos especies de Quararibea Aubl. (Q. cogo/loi y Q. tir/ekzrnae). Asimismo, se aclaran aspectos taxonómicos o se registran novedades corológicas para Colombia, Ecuador o Perú, referentes a las especies M. alata Little, M cornucopiae Triana & Planch., M.floccosa Fern.-Alonso, M. giacomettoi Romero, M. hirta Cuatrec., M. Ieptandra Cuatrec., M. soegengii Cuatrec., Quararibea ciroana Cuatrec. y Q. wittii Ulbr.
