Until present time, Atlantic bluefin tuna full life cycle aquaculture in Europe has started with the collection of fertilized eggs from breeders located in floating cages in the sea. One of the most relevant issues of that technique is the presence of eggs of not desired fish species with concomitant reproduction season mixed with tuna, which due to their fast development can be able to predate bluefin tuna larvae at their earlier stages. This fact seriously threatens the survival of bluefin tuna larvae and juveniles production. In the present study, the possibility of doing away with these undesirable eggs by using a differential buoyancy technique has been tested, which in most cases it has been proved to be inferior to the buoyancy of bluefin tuna eggs.
