Abstract

A batch of Manila clams Ruditapes philippinarum (Adamsampersand Reeve, 1850), prefattened in a raft with airlifts, was sown when they reached a length of 20 mm, having a shell deformation rate of 25 %, in the intertidal zone. The experimental culture has been carried out in a plot of 13 m ˟ 1,5 m, located in a lowwater spring tide (LWS), with a density of 1.700 indiv/m². After 10 months, 14,5 kg/m² was harvested, equivalent to 1.070 indiv/m², of which 23 % were not marketable due to deformations, and the rest had an economic yield that topped 98 €/m² for the first sale.
