Abstract

Growth in length and weight and the sexual maturity of Seriola dumerili born in captivity between 2002 and 2006 were studied. Fish length increases its size2 times and its weight 9 times between one and four years age. Length-weight relationship was Weight (kg)=4x10-5xLength (cm)2,79 . Fish reached maturity in the third age class and the 12,8% were mature males (64-83 cm). The sex ratio found in sampled fish was 32,3% males (60-70 cm) y 67,7% females (56-91 cm). Results from this study give relevant information for the broodstock management in captivity.
