La Ley española de la Ciencia (junio, 2011) establece el marco para el fomento de la investigación científica y técnica, con el fin de contribuir a la generación, difusión y transferencia del conocimiento. Contempla la difusión en acceso abierto de las publicaciones de los investigadores, mediante el desarrollo de repositorios de acceso abierto, y establece sistemas que permiten conectar los repositorios con iniciativas similares de ámbito nacional e internacional. La actividad investigadora que esté financiada mayoritariamente con fondos del Estado se hará pública, en repositorios institucionales digitales de acceso abierto, no más tarde de doce meses después de la fecha oficial de publicación y estas versiones electrónicas se podrán utilizar en la evaluación de los investigadores. El Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) es un organismo público de investigación que, desde 1914, se dedica a la investigación científico-técnica marina en pesquerías, acuicultura y medio ambiente marino y protección ambiental. En octubre de 2011, el IEO inició la preservación digital y la difusión de su producción intelectual, con la puesta en marcha del repositorio institucional digital de acceso abierto e-IEO http://www.repositorio.ieo.es/e-ieo/, siguiendo las directrices DRIVER 2.0, el protocolo OAI-PMH para transmisión y recuperación de metadatos (Dublin Core) y utilizando el software libre DSpace y licencias Creative Commons. Los autores archivan sus documentos con la ayuda de una persona de apoyo en su Centro, y dos administradores en los Servicios Centrales y una empresa externa gestionan el repositorio. En el espacio web, los principales recolectores de repositorios y motores de búsqueda (OAI, DRIVER, OpenDOAR, ROAR, Google Scholar, Scirus, Recolecta, Acceso Abierto, e-ciencia, Hispana y Google) trasladan al lector los contenidos del repositorio. Tras año y medio, cuenta con 600 ítems de los que un 45% son presentaciones a grupos de trabajo; un 21%, artículos publicados en revistas; un 12%, presentaciones a congresos y un 7%, informes de campañas y de proyectos de investigación. El 15% restante lo componen tesis doctorales, libros y capítulos de libros, material de divulgación, notas técnicas, manuales prácticos, publicaciones y documentación de apoyo a la investigación y de asesoramiento. La distribución por comunidades es: Área de Pesquerías, 395; Área de Acuicultura, 117; Área de Medio Marino y Protección Ambiental, 52; Apoyo a la investigación, 26 y Gabinete de Prensa, 10. En este póster se presentan las estadísticas del repositorio de este periodo, en el que la media de visitas por ítem fue de 227, y las actuaciones del IEO previstas para este 2013, dirigidas a incrementar el número de ítems.

The Spanish law of Science (June 2011) establishes the framework for the promotion of scientific and technical research, with the aim of contributing to the generation, dissemination and transfer of knowledge. That law considers the open access broadcast of researchers publications through the repositories development and establishes systems that allow that repositories to get connected with similar national and international initiatives. Research activities mainly funded by the State will be published, in institutional digital open access repositories, no later than 12 months after the official date of publication. These electronic versions may be used to evaluate researchers. The Spanish Institute of Oceanography (Instituto Español de Oceanografía, IEO) is a public research organization funded in 1914. It is dedicated to the scientific and technical marine research in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, marine environment and environmental protection. Major repositories collectors and search engines (OAI, DRIVER, OpenDOAR, ROAR, Google Scholar, Scirus, Recolecta, Open Access, e-ciencia, Hispana and Google) transfer the contents of the repository to the reader on the web space. One and a half years on, the IEO repository has 600 items of which 45% are presentations to working groups; 21% are articles published in journals; 12% are presentations to congresses and 7% are reports of campaigns and research projects. The remaining 15% corresponds to doctoral theses, books and book chapters, dissemination material, technical notes, practical manuals, publications and research support and advice documents. The distribution by communities is: Area of Fisheries, 395; Area of Aquaculture, 117; Area of Marine Environment and Environmental Protection, 52; Support Research, 26 and Press Office, 10.
