Abstract

En la actualidad, la sobrepesca es uno de los principales problemas ecológicos de la Humanidad. Según el organismo de Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), en el Atlántico Norte sólo queda la sexta parte de los peces que había hace 100 años. La organización conservacionista WWF/Adena advierte de que "el 52% de las pesquerías mundiales están siendo plenamente explotadas y el 24% están sobre-explotadas o recuperándose del colapso".
