Abstract

[EN] An incubation method for sediment cores, used in a Galician Ria for first time, is showed here. The cores were take out by a box core, obtaining unaltered samples (7-10 cm of sediment together with its supernatant water) in a plexyglas cylinder of 5.4 cm i.d. and 25 cm height. The cores were incubated in laboratory, under darkness and unchanged temperature conditions. During the experiment, supernatant water recirculation is maintained with a peristaltic pump. Incubation time was 5 hours. The values of fluxes sediment-water column were calculated using time-nutrient concentration diagrams. This method were applied for cores obtained in the inner zone of the Ria of Vigo in december 1993. Dissolved silicate flux was 186 µmol m-2 h-1
