TOLERANCIA A LA SALINIDAD DE DOS PATRONES DE AGUACATE: PAPEL DEL TRANSPORTADOR DE Na+ TIPO HKT1

Abstract

Ante el actual escenario de cambio climático, la escasez de agua para riego se está convirtiendo en una importante limitación para el cultivo de aguacate en la provincia de Málaga, localizada en el sureste español. Frente a esta situación de creciente escasez de agua de buena calidad, los agricultores están empezando a usar agua de pozos que contienen una alta concentración de sales. En esta comarca aproximadamente el 80% del cultivo de aguacate, cv. Hass, está injertado sobre el patrón Topa-Topa y más recientemente están empezando a implementarse otros portainjertos de los que no existe información precisa de su tolerancia al estrés salino. Por tanto, el objetivo del presente trabajo ha sido establecer las bases fisiológicas necesarias para la selección de patrones de aguacate tolerantes a salinidad. Para ello se han evaluado parámetros biométricos (número de hojas, calibre del tallo, peso seco), parámetros fisiológicos (fotosíntesis, potencial osmótico foliar) y contenido de iones salinos en savia y hojas, en dos patrones de aguacate (Topa-Topa y Maoz) sometidos a 3 niveles de salinidad en el agua de riego. Estos datos se han analizado en relación a la expresión en raíz del transportador de Na+ tipo HKT1. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que, a igual intensidad de estrés salino, los efectos deletéreos de la salinidad sobre el desarrollo vegetativo de Topa-Topa son significativamente superiores a los registrados en el patrón Maoz. El contenido de Na+ en savia y en hojas es significativamente superior en el patrón Topa-Topa donde se han registrado valores menores de expresión del transportador de Na+ tipo HKT1con respecto a los registrados en el patrón Maoz.
