[EN] Considering that the eighteenth century was characterized by its controversies, this work studies the relationship between some of them and the processes of national construction that occurred at the time. Practically everything was tinged with nationalism (from fashion to culture) and the confrontations between intellectuals, although they could be motivated by specific issues, always had a greater dimension, since they showed national models. At the same time, some reflections are made on the political utility of the controversial scheme and on its uses in the writing of national history.
