El enfoque de la interseccionalidad aplicado a las políticas para la erradicación de la “mutilación femenina”

Abstract

En la primera parte de este trabajo nos referiremos a la teoría de la interseccionalidad para definir las herramientas conceptuales adoptadas para cuestionar la utilización de la categoría “violencia de género” como herramienta útil para erradicar las intervenciones rituales sobre los genitales femeninos en Europa. En la segunda parte, utilizando el enfoque de la interseccionalidad, analizaremos la legislación adoptada para prohibir las intervenciones rituales sobre los genitales femeninos. Nos referiremos finalmente a la propuesta de “circuncisión simbólica” como alternativa para la regulación de las intervenciones rituales sobre los genitales femeninos en los países europeos.

Este trabajo está financiado por el proyecto I+D titulado “Estrategias de integración social y prevención de racismo en las escuelas” (FFI2009-08762, MICINN) y coordinado por Margarita del Olmo. Se enmarca además en el seno de otro proyecto titulado “Mujeres en tránsito y transformación de la identidad de género en los procesos migratorios” y coordinado por María Caterina La Barbera (Exp. 06/10, Instituto de la Mujer y FSE).
