We go into the study of human rights availing ourselves of a dichotomy, in order to sort them out: welfare rights and freedom rights. The former lie in the holder's licit enjoyment of something or other with certain characteristics. Freedom rights lie in a course of action and abstention thereof being both licit. In virtue of rules of legal logic, the former differ from the latter not only as regards other people's entailed duties but also concerning duties of the holder himself.
This is the joint editors' introduction to a collection of essays on the current situation of Human Rights in the world
