Abstract

Uso de antagonistas del receptor P2X7 para favorecer el crecimiento y ramificación axonales. Uso de antagonistas del receptor P2X7, especialmente de BBG, para favorecer el crecimiento y ramificación axonales. La presente invención se refiere al uso de antagonistas del receptor P2X7 capaces de atravesar la barrera hematoencefálica, y vehículos farmacéuticamente aceptables, para fabricar medicamentos destinados al tratamiento de enfermedades o estados asociados con: a) ausencia o reducción de crecimiento axonal; b) pérdida de colaterales axonales; c) lesión nerviosa; d) pérdida o degeneración de las conexiones sinápticas. Asimismo, se describe el uso de los citados antagonistas para potenciar el crecimiento axonal, tanto en neuronas en cultivo, como en neuronas trasplantadas.
