Abstract

[EN] An analytical method for the determination of calcium ion in seawater is proposed, by volumetric titration with potentiometric detection of end-point by calcium ion selective electrode, using EGTA (ethyleneglycol-bis (B-aminoethylether), N, N, N', N’, tetraacetic acid) as a titrant, which produces least interference with other alkaline ions. The ammount of added borax is eminently good for buffering the pH during the titration. The method was applied to the study of two legs performed in Ria de Arosa, during the cruise GALICIA X. A reproductibility of 0.04% was obtained, better than other methods with potentiometric end-point or colorimetric indicators
