Assessment of the susceptibility of maize lines to the European corn borer Ostrinia nubilalis as part of the programme of IWGO, 1975–1976

Abstract

The International Working Group on Ostrinia (IWGO) has in the last 10 years defined and standardized methods for the assessment of Ostrinia susceptibility in maize and has applied these methods to maize lines regularly exchanged between members. Its activities demonstrate how international cooperation can make an effective contribution to programmes for the practical utilization of insect resistance in plants.
