La sublevación capitaneada por Túpac Amaru II, cacique de Tungasuca (Virreinato del Perú), ha sido considerada como la más importante de las revueltas indígenas acaecida en los territorios coloniales españoles. Algunos autores consideran que se trata de la primera manifestación precursora de la posterior independencia hispanoamericana, mientras que para otros es una más de las muchas protestas antirreformista de la época (1780), si bien nadie le niega su gran trascendencia y repercusión en la política colonial ultramarina.
